What's in v1?
This is what's in v1 — the first version of SLED in the App Store. Defined as much by what's missing as by what's there.
The hardest part of building v1 was deciding what not to put in it. Here's where I landed.
What's in v1
-
New
Two alternating full-body workouts. Three sets each. The app decides which one you do next.
Workout A: chest press, back rows, bicep curls, tricep extensions, double-leg squat, ab crunches.
Workout B: pull-ups, shoulder press, hamstring curls, single-leg squat, surfer, twister. - New One incline level for the whole workout. You move as a whole — not Level 4 chest, Level 2 legs.
- New Auto-progression. Reps climb after every completed session — +1, +2, or +3, your choice. Hit 20, level up, raise the incline, reset to 10, and climb again.
- New Milestones at 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 — and every 5 thereafter up to 50, then every 10 beyond. Quiet recognition.
- New A rest timer between sets. Default 1:00, adjustable from 0:30 to 5:00 in 30-second steps. Counts down. Dismisses itself.
- New A weekly schedule. Pick which days are workout days.
- New Settings that adapt to your machine. Pick your model — Total Gym XLS, FIT, 1900, GTS, GR8Flex, Weider, and more — and SLED sets your max level automatically.
- New $4.99/month or $39.99/year. 7-day free trial. No account required. Your data stays on your phone.
What's not in v1
This list is deliberate. None of this is missing by accident.
- No per-exercise levels. One level applies to all six movements. You climb together.
- No multiple programs to choose from. The point is removing the choice.
- No leaderboards, no badges, no power-ups. Your milestone is real or it isn't.
- No social feed. Probably never.
- No Apple Watch app. Yet. It's on the list.
- No Android. Yet. Also on the list, further down.
I want to see what people actually miss before I add things. If something earns its place, it'll show up in a future release. If it doesn't, it won't.
Enough control to adapt to your life. Not so much that you have to think about it.
Zero Rumpelstiltskin
We are not one of those apps that spin your data into gold and take your firstborn in return. No account. No cloud. No data we could sell even if we wanted to. Your workout history lives on your device and nowhere else (so remember to back it up).
$4.99/month or $39.99/year. 7-day free trial. No account required. Your data is your data. It stays on your phone (a small price to pay to sleep well at night).
Why so little
Because the part that's hard about working out isn't the workout. It's the showing up. Every feature I add is one more thing between you and pressing start. So I'd rather ship something that does one thing well than something that does five things and gets in your way.
v1 is in the App Store now. If you've been waiting — thank you. This is the thing.
